About Loro Piana

The Loro Piana family began trading woolen fabrics in Trivero, at the foot of the Italian Alps, in 1924. Franco Loro Piana started exporting fine fabrics; the rest of the family joined in the 1970s. Six generations later, the brand is still family-owned and controls the entire chain from fiber to finished product.

Loro Piana works with materials that are rarely processed elsewhere. Baby cashmere from young Hircus goats, Vicuña from the Andes, ultra-fine Merino wool, and Pecora Nera from rare dark Merino sheep. Storm System makes cashmere and wool water-repellent without compromising their softness.

Baby cashmere from the young Hircus goat is the finest textile fiber processed by Loro Piana. With a fineness of 13 to 13.5 microns, it is noticeably softer than regular cashmere and exclusive to Loro Piana.
